La Fondazione Edison. Dieci anni per l'economia italiana in Europa

Edited by Marco Fortis and Alberto Quadrio Curzio Il Mulino - October 2010

The Fondazione Edison started its activity in 1999 in the wake of the historical interest of Società Edison, its parent company, in the progress of economic studies. This volume presents, through a well-founded synthesis, the studies, publications and events produced by the Foundation in its ten years of life. The Fondazione Edison has promoted and implemented applied research initiatives, always seen in a European and international perspective, centered on the Italian economy and its strong points, based on territorial systems, industrial districts and SMEs. Italian and foreign experts, operators and scholars have been the players in this research work, whose target, beside rigorous analysis, has always been the promotion of the Italian model, which is based on "community liberalism", the made-in-Italy business and on competitiveness of the territorial systems. This is done to highlight our strong points and foster the emergence needed to improve the Italian system. The Fondazione's contribution to research in territorial entrepreneurial economic development and its role in the mobilization of operational expertise show the importance that a foundation can have in the promotion of applied research in our country.
